The building of Katarina Udički, completed in 1927, was designed by Đ.S. Jovanovic. It was designed in the spirit of academic architecture of the 20th century, with lavishly decorated balconies and fluted pilasters of the central elevation. The building has architectural and ambient value within the urban complex “Old Belgrade”, which enjoys the status of a protected ambiental area of the Institute for the Protection of Culture of the City of Belgrade. The project envisages an extension above the second floor and the creation of a duplex living unit. To volumetrically complete the street front, the extension follows the elevation of the border of neighboring buildings. Towards the street facade, a terrace is provided, which in the central zone recedes 60 cm from the elevation, in the continuation of which a masonry fence of the same material as the material on the lower floors is designed, in order to maintain the continuity of the existing facade plastic. The designed steel facade box structure frames both levels of the duplex and highlights the bisector of the existing building, while its transparency forms a contrast against the monumental elements of the existing building.
